Plastica have developed a unique solution for underground ductwork. Historically such applications may have used a metallic ductwork system. Which were subject to corrosion and mechanical failure due to ground, and other external factors.

The Plastica technologies is all Plastic Construction, utilising a unique bracing system designed to enhance the mechanical structure whilst only offering a very low pressure drop, normally a K factor of 0.2 can be used.

The ductwork size can be completely variable providing the most economic system as the amount of ground preparation can be limited.

The system has an excellent thermal insulation property, with a thermal conductivity of 0.22 W/M.

However, should the design call for enhanced thermal insulation, with the external bracing system, additional insulation can easily be applied. The Plastic material used has excellent ball impact strength and shore hardness characteristics.

Plastica technologies also provides a self-coloured uPVC ductwork which is ideally suited to the corrosive atmosphere encountered within swimming pools which is aesthetically pleasing and is available in large diameters, rectangular and square cross sections.

The ductwork is available in any Bs or RAL colour making it ideal where the ductwork is exposed on either supply or extract air systems. Plastco has it's own unique discreet bracketing system incorporating a reinforced stiffener along the top of the duct from which the brackets are fixed eliminating the need for untidy clip bands around the duct. Spigots can also be fitted to the ductwork prior to delivery to suit any grille configuration.

The ductwork is available in various material including uPVC, UPVC/GRP, PP and PP/GRP.

It is also available in Factory Mutual 4910 & 4922 materials. Size range from 125 Dia to 3000 Dia and also available in rectangular shape. Construction specifications include DW154, SMACNA and other international standards.

FM Ductwork

Plastica Technologies have a range of rectangular and circular Ductwork which is manufactured from FM approved materials.

The company was recently commissioned to replace an existing extract system located within a micro-electronics facility with ductwork manufactured from FM4910 approved materials.

The Cleanroom Materials Flammability Test Protocol (Class 4910) contains the method for conducting tests. Now, micro electronics manufacturers can apply the cleanroom protocol to extract systems capable of resisting fire, emitting little, if any smoke, and producing little, if any, corrosive by products.

The Plastica Technologies does not need supplementary and expensive fire protection systems installed, so they will be inherently safe when installed in the cleanroom.
The ductwork is manufactured from materials listed in the approvals guide, a publication of FM Approvals.

The 'Cleanroom' project was successfully completed during an annual shutdown period resulting in the system being fully operational in time for resumption of the production resulting in no loss of production for the client.

Food

Plastica Technologies was recently commissioned to carry out a complete upgrade of an existing odour control system. The scope of works included replacement of the odour scrubber, high efficiency mist eliminator complete new ductwork system, replacement discharge stack and remedial work to the carbon filters. The existing ductwork was poorly designed and showing severe corrosion (with the existing ductwork made from galvanised mild steel).

Replacing Galvanised Steel Ductwork

New upvc ductwork offered a more efficient design complete with a higher discharge stack terminating 16.5m above floor level. The equipment included a replacement high efficiency horizontal scrubber unit complete with packed bed, high efficiency mist eliminator and recirculation system.

Pharmaceutical

Replacement Polypropylene Rossette Packing in an existing 2 stage horizontal scrubber. Each stage has a volume of 22m3. Two vertical fluidised bed PP scrubbers.

2-off 100% duty vertical packed tower scrubbers operating under positive pressure and 2 high efficiency centrifugal fans. Various Different types of scrubber internals.

Micro Electronics

End user Wafer fabrication facility using class10000, 1000, and 100.
Description: Design, manufacture, delivery, installation and commissioning of a complete acid & alkaline extraction and scrubbing system including the following equipment:
• 2 Inlet header ductwork systems ranging from 315 to 1100Diameter.
• 1 Single stage vertical packed tower scrubber handling 16 m3/s.
• 2 Centrifugal fans operating on a duty/standby arrangement.
• 1 Discharge stack 1300diameter 15m tall
• 45 Second fix hook up ductwork systems.

Single stage vertical packed tower, 2800 Diameter, 7500 tall, packed depth 2000. Duty/standby recirculation pumps high efficient mist eliminator and automatic dosing system. Scrubber constructed in UV stabilised Polypropylene.

Constructed to DVS 2205. 1300dia Discharge stack, 12 metres tall, constructed in Upvc/GRP.
