Fume Scrubbers

As the need to curtail air borne pollution increases, Plastica Technologies remains at the forefront in providing efficient, cost effective solutions.

Our in-house engineering facility enables us to custom design the fume scrubbing systems that are essential for preserving the environment in many industries.

We have an extensive programme of fume scrubber development and a large number of case histories.

Our range includes;

• Horizontal cross flow scrubbers
• Vertical packed towers

• Mist eliminators

We custom build all systems and provide all the support needed to meet client demands, including control systems and monitoring.

We can also provide ongoing preventative service, or maintenance on demand agreements.

To enhance the useful life expectancy of the equipment and maintain efficiency, our spares departments is available to give advice and recommendations.

Mist Eliminators

Removal of droplets directly from the process ventilation system, or following a wet scrubbing process needs to be carefully considered. Various conditions can have an impact on removal efficiency including gas velocity, laminar velocities, and droplet size.

Mist eliminators are available for both horizontal and vertical air flows.

The technology used allows the units to be either at the final stage of separation within a wet scrubbing process, or as a standalone application.

Series T00

The range of TOO units have been designed around a double bank of highly successful specially profiled eliminator blades. These curved blades utilise the greater inertia mass of the droplet to entrain and remove them from the airstream. Each droplet is first impinged then runs down the blades to be collected in the sump. This system, correctly used, ensures that the discharged gas is below the legally required limit.

The units are able to operate in a dry condition to assist in the recovery and reuse in the case of chrome droplet removal. As the chrome can quickly build-up on the blades a blade wash down facility is provided.

Pressure Drop: The graph shown above gives the pressure drop and limit drop size per bank. These are for the blades only any additional losses for the inlet and outlet tapers, etc, need also to be taken into consideration.

Series T271

Our range of mist eliminators in most instances can be retrospectively fitted to existing installations.

We also offer wire type mist eliminator pads.

Plastic Ductwork

Corrosion of exhaust ductwork can prove to be an expensive issue.

Not only does corrosion lead to loss of extraction efficiencies, with all its subsequent ramifications. Replacement incurs capital cost, strip out time, effects on the actual building fabric, and considerable down time.

Plastica offers a broad choice of corrosion resistant fume ductwork systems, plastic ductwork and components.

Fume Ductwork cleaning can be accommodated to TR19 standards, and pressure tested to DW144

PE-EL and PP-EL is a high-heat resistant, UV-stabilised, electrically conductive product designed for explosion protection to counteract static.PE, and PE-EL can e be used in the construction of fume ductwork, fans, tanks and vessel construction.

Plastic can be used in potentially explosive atmospheres where sparks might occur as a result of static.

The materials are also available polyester-backed for larger fabrications.

Fans

Plastica Systems offers an extensive range of corrosion resistant plastic centrifugal fan units.

The fans have been specially developed to handle corrosive fume, vapors, contaminated air and aggressive gases.

Our fans are manufactured to the highest possible quality, with the vast majority using radial tipped backward curved impellors, which offer excellent performance with low noise levels.

Plastic Centrifugal Fans are available with flow rates up to 100,000 m3/hr, with static pressures up to 4000 pa.

Heat Exchangers

Our heat exchangers are designed as a composition module from single device units and manufactured from sturdy plastic panels to create a solid construction. The connection of each cube/device unit as external flanges with inlaid sealing increases the robustness of the system

Dust Filters

MC Filter Unit

This is a small range of hand shaken filter units designed to give an easy answer to the small dust extraction problem. They are ideal for connecting to small dust generating machines such as small grinding wheels and profile sanders.

The unit is available in two sizes, a 1.0m2 filter size fitted with a 0.55kw fan set and a 2.5m2 filter size fitted with a 1.1kw fan set. Both units are available for an electrical supply of 415v 3 phase 50 hz supply but a single phase option on both units is also available.

M Filter Unit

The unit design uses a small motor coupled to a reduction gearbox to mechanically shake the filter bags clean once the integral top mounted fan set has been switched off.

The shaker motor and gearbox are located inside the filter unit and are unseen from outside. The M unit is a compact design and employs an envelope type filter bag within it with the dust collecting on the inside of the filter bag, therefore making access to the filter media available from the "clean air" side of the unit.

To give a wide variety of filter unit sizes, the M unit range is built around a modular design with the "single bodied" unit available in a range of filter areas from 8 to 40 square metres of filter area . The range is then built up around the duplication of bodies with the largest standard unit built as one construction being the 8 bodied 256M which employs 256 square metres of filtration media.

MP Filter Unit

As with the M unit, this design utilises a small motor to mechanically shake the filter bags clean once the integral top mounted fan set has been switched off.
The MP unit is available in a single bodied construction with filter areas ranging from 10 to 40 square metres of filter area.

Unlike the M unit range, our MP range have their filter media in the form of pad type elements rather than an envelope with the shaker motor being bolted to the outside of the filter unit casing. With this design, the dust is collected on the outside of the filter bag from the "dirty air" side of the unit.

The MP unit is mainly employed where headroom is restricted.

DFP Filter Unit

The ProDust DFP unit uses compressed air for filter cleaning on an intermittent yet continuous basis whilst the fan set is still running. This allows the filter unit to run continuously for extended periods of time.

In the DFP filter unit, the filter elements take the form of flat pads with the filter media being mounted over wire mesh support frames. By using this method of construction, the units are very compact and allow the filter media to be mounted in either a horizontal or vertical manner.

The flat Pad configuration of the filter media allows for a wide number of variations and is the most versatile of our pulse jet filter units.
Access for filter bag removal is gained from the clean air side of the filter unit only.

CVD Filter Unit

The proDust CV unit uses compressed air for filter cleaning on an intermittent yet continuous basis while the fan set is still running. This allows the filter unit to run continuously for extended periods of time.

In the case of the proDust CV filter unit, the filter elements take the form of tubular filter bags held in place vertically from a horizontal filter bag mounting plate. Though the unit is not as compact as the proDust DFP or DCH unit designs, it offers an answer to a wider range of dust problems than its sister units. This is because the proDust CV filter unit can tolerate to a far higher degree dusts that, for example, are sticky, oily, and fibrous, statically charged or have an affinity to moisture. This is due to the tubular nature of the filter element design as well as the pre-separation section that is in built around the inlet arrangement of each CV filter unit.

Of course, the unit design must reflect the environment that it is to be applied to for it to work correctly and it is therefore important to let our Sales Department know as many details as possible with regards to the intended application.
As a standard, the filter media is removed from the "clean air side" of the filter unit, but where height is an issue, the filter bags can be made with "dirty side" removal.

DCH Filter Unit

The proDust DCH filter uses horizontally mounted filter cartridges to filter dust laden air to a highly efficient level; in many applications the clean air dust level achieved is below 1 mg/cu.m. As well as being highly efficient, the unit is compact and is maintenance friendly with the cartridges being easy to withdraw on an individual basis with the minimum effort.

Units with vertically mounted cartridges can also be provided when required.
The DCH unit is ideal for handling dusts such as electrostatic paint spray, welding fume, plasma and laser cutting operations and shot blast applications.

Wet Collectors

These units use a self scrubbing action to filter the dust from the air stream within a bath of water.

These units use a "self scrubbing" action to filter the dust from the air stream but are not quite as efficient as the rest of the filter units within the range. Our Wet Collector offers a solution to the problem of dusts which require wet filtration to be employed, e.g.: the linishing of aluminium, magnesium and titanium.

In addition, this Wet Collector also offers a solution to the problem of dusts that are in themselves laden with water. Our Wet Collectors have been successfully employed in a number of applications of this type including stone cutting and surface grinding applications where water is being employed as a coolant as well as a suppressant at the point of dust generation.
